I hope to someday adopt from foster care, meaning that the child will know English but need to master the minority language which we speak at home. We have been doing a combination of OPOL–DH speaks the minority language, and I try to speak both as much as possible. We will need re-evaluate this as our kids get older and start school, but so far it has worked out okay. Not sure what it’d be like trying to teach an older kid adopted from foster care, but I hope we can manage it!
