Loved your insight and reasons to include multicultural and diversity awareness books in school! Here are 2 new ones I just bought recently:
All Are Welcome by Alexandra Penfold and illustrated by Suzanne Kaufman – Simple language and rhyming text with the repeated message of “All are welcome here”, together with the detailed illustrations showing children and families of many diverse backgrounds and differences, show children that they “have a place here”; in the school, and in the community, and in the world.

We really enjoy reading biographical books from countries around the world – the Librarian of Basra, the last Hawaiian Princess — and also nonfiction books that show how kids around the world live are a big hit in our house. Wonderful post!!

I agree with everything you said! There are so many wonderful multicultural books for kids out there that are beautifully written and illustrated. Check out book stores, libraries, or the Barefoot Books link on this website for ideas.
