Montreal with Kids- Kid World Citizen

For the final week of summer, my family and I traveled north to the beautiful Montreal, Quebec. We are fortunate as it is a relatively short drive for us and have family here. My toddlers ages 2 and 1 had a fabulous time, and look forward to returning whenever we can in the future. There are so many things for kids to see and do in and around Montreal.

The Children’s Museum

My kids had a fun-packed (and educational!) time at Musee pour Enfants, located in Laval, Quebec, which is a neighboring town outside Montreal. We spent about 3 hours here, and probably would have stayed longer if we could have. There is so much to do here, including meeting with astronauts and boarding a rocket ship!

B-fly Butterfly Exhibit

B-fly is one of the over 300 retailers that can be found in Quartier Dix 30, an outdoor shopping complex located in neighboring Brossard, Quebec. The indoor butterfly complex is a tour that can be experienced daytime or night. The exhibit is highly interactive- over 100 butterflies are available for viewing, flying freely inside the beautiful setting. An animated world of characters including an educational cartoon at the beginning of the tour and comprehensive individualized learning module at the end maximizes the experience for kids and parents alike.

Indigo and Renaud-Bray Bookstores

As souvenirs, we splurged on French-language books for the kids, particularly those that come with accompanying CDs or audio options directly embedded into the books. These bookstores have something for everyone though, from the extremely comprehensive kids sections, to gifts for the older bookworm, with large sections both in French or English.

Montreal has to offer the public. Many of the ones we saw had been recently renovated. As it was summer here, we were able to enjoy the many different sprinklers available. I loved that one of the parks we saw even had outdoor exercise equipment for adults! We could probably have spent our whole vacation just park-hopping! But an inexpensive option for water activities if the weather is inclement is to check out Oasis Surf, an indoor restaurant complex that offers older kids the opportunity to ride some waves! How awesome!

Farms

Quinn Farm is one farm that offers a wide variety of activities for kids. It includes a large play yard with a large fort made out of straw, a tire pyramid to climb, and huge slide, amongst other activities. Different experiences are available based on the time of year- for example, learn how maple syrup is produced in the Spring, or go apple and pumpkin picking in the fall!
