The Love Books Exchange is hosted and organized by the lovely partners at The Educators’ Spin On It each Summer. They bring together 60 (SIXTY!) awesome bloggers to exchange books, supplies, ideas, and then share that inspiration with our readers. Learn more about the Love Books Exchange here. And follow along with all of the awesome book-inspired activities on Pinterest, too!
We were paired up with our friends at B-Inspired Mama, who shares awesome crafts, recipes, and fun ideas to do with your kids. She picked out the perfect book for us: Maps and Geography (Ken Jennings’ Junior Genius Guides).

Ken Jennings, a trivia genius himself, holds the record for the longest winning streak on Jeopardy. He currently is a NYT best-selling author and has created a series of ““Junior Genius Guides” that help kids become experts on different themes:
Krissy at B-Inspired Mama sent us the lovely Maps and Geography book, plus a tube of animals, and a world map puzzle (and you know I love world maps!).
The Genius Guide is incredible- what a great read this would be for someone studying for the GeoBee!!! Topics include:
- Important map vocabulary and concepts
- Tallest, driest, coldest, longest and other superlatives
- Fascinating facts on unique countries like the 14 nations that border Rusia, the smallest countries, and countries that used to be known by other names
- Landmarks, architecture, and their history
- An entire chapter dedicated to the US with random facts about states
This was fun to pull trivia from and quiz each other (and many times stump the adults!) and also to read blurbs and wow each other.
We also played with the animals, which were perfect for my budding animal scientists. I had the girls put together the puzzle and try to place the animals on the right continent. They were right when they said Africa was the best represented in the collection!
Here is the package we sent to our friends at B-Inspired Mama. Click here to see their project after reading the hilarious book “Those Darn Squirrels!”
Nice.
