We were sent some amazing face and body paint from Tulip® Body Art® and went to the park to have some fun. They offer an extensive variety of professional-quality paint, glitter, hair, and even black light products for Halloween and Day of the Dead.
Day of the Dear Face Paint Design
The very first step is to wash your face (or your child’s face!) and then layer on the white paint as a base. Tulip® paint is non-toxic and washes off easily with soap and water, so it’s safe to use with children.
Use a bit of water to wet the brush, and cover the brush completely with the face paint. Decide which colors you’d like to use to add the details to your Day of the Dead face paint design!
Day of the Dead skulls usually include large “eye sockets” as we’ve done here, an upside down heart shape for the nose, and lots of colorful details on the cheeks and chin. If you’re not good at freehand, the Body Art Stencils and brushes make it easy to create artful designs.
The final step is to add in the details in black. For the mouth, you can see how we painted the “teeth” with a horizontal black line and then vertical stripes for a wide smile. I also outlined his face in black and added other details.
Here he is hours later: we walked around all day- and it was hot out!- without a smear or drip, and got sooooo many compliments!!! What a perfect Day of the Dead face paint design: dress in all black and the costume would be complete! I’m thinking this would be a great idea for Spanish teachers- can you imagine your students’ faces when you walk in the classroom?
