“Best of 2012”

When I was asked to post my favorite post or activity of 2012, I couldn’t decide which to share… If it were my most viewed post, it would be the “My Place in the World” project, which has been pinned and read the most. Also popular is Nelson Mandela’s Autobiography for Kids, and the awesome 3D Salt Dough Maps that were both incredible to make together, and were a beautiful display for International Night at school.

But then I thought about what post really embodies my family, our values, and what was memorable for us in 2012. I think the article on “The Importance of Family Traditions, and a Look at Ours” is the perfect snippet of one of our favorite times of year. Family rituals help to create memories that the kids will carry with them even as they grow up and have their own families. I loved brainstorming with my kids about what they love to do in the winter as a family, and then gather the pictures together, and share the post with them when I was finished.
